This week is National Volunteers’ Week!
Every year between the 1 and the 7 of June, we recognise the amazing contributions volunteers make to our local communities, the voluntary sector and our society, so we say thank you by celebrating their important work.
The aim of Volunteers’ Week is to highlight the diversity and inclusivity of our communities and show the benefits of volunteering within local organisations.
Every year, there are many events held – both online and in person – to help celebrate Volunteers’ Week and the hard work that volunteers dedicate their free time to.
This week there is a wide variety of events and activities happening across the UK to support volunteers and show our appreciation of them. Click here to find out more about Volunteers’ Week.
With the recent Coronation of King Charles III, Hertsmere saw a range of events held and run by volunteers so that communities could come together to celebrate the weekend. This also included projects run on Monday 8 May 2023 as part of ‘The Big Help Out’.
Though The Big Help Out day has passed, it doesn’t mean that you can’t start volunteering now. You can download the Big Help Out app to find volunteering opportunities near you all year round.
Many of our lottery Good Causes are run by amazing volunteers who dedicate their time to making a difference within their local communities. We don’t have the space to name every individual here, but we would like to take this moment to say THANK YOU to each and every volunteer for their hard work in their respective roles.
You can click here to find out more about each Good Cause and what they are doing to help support their local communities.
A day for your diaries is Sunday 2 July, which will be the UK’s third annual #ThankYouDay. This day is another chance to say thank you for everyone and everything that makes our communities great and wonderful places to live in.
